My Name is Al Midkiff. I am an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux  Nation of Pine Ridge,  South Dakota.  I am what is called in the Lakota  language  "Iyeska" .  Meaning I am of mixed blood.  I am also French, Welsh,  English, and another Indian Tribe. (possibly Micmac)

I have lived and researched my Native Heritage extensively.  I play the Cedar Flute, sing some of the old songs in the Lakota language, tell some of the old stories, and have studied extensively the history of our people from Pre-Columbus times to  present.

I am a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Course and a five time graduate assistant.  I am very comfortable in front of 5 or 1500 people.  I have had some college but for the most part am self-educated.

I am a past Board Member of both The Heart of America Indian Center and Kansas City Indian Club.  I am currently serving on the Kansas City Kansas Community College Intercultural Community Advisory  Board.

I am a 30 year retiree from General Motors Corp.  Fairfax Kansas Plant.
